MARY BURKIN (Talent/Legal Advisor)
Mary has toured as a performer with several professional theatre companies, including the American Living History Theatre, Nevada Shakespeare, and her own Road Show Theatre Company, where she has researched and written about famous women in history, including Susan B. Anthony, Jane Austen, and Clara Barton. She is a proud member of the SkyPilot Theatre (where she starred last year as the romance novelist ghost of the heroine’s mother in “Lights Off, Eyes Closed”) the Above the Curve Theatre (where she starred this year as Phyllis in this year’s production of “Play on!”), and Theatre West (where she starred this past year in William Blinn’s “A Short Stay at Carranor” as well acting and directing for two of her own short plays). Mary has written, produced and/or directed 6 short videos for the 168 Hour Film Project. Her video production, “THE DEATH OF TAKMOS,” earned a place on the 168 “Best Of” DVD in 2010. She is the winner of a Drama-Logue Award for Playwriting for her script based on the life of Louisa May Alcott. Her original romantic comedy “Finders Keepers” was published last year by JAC Publications. This year, Mary starred in the short comedy video “Not Done Yet,” as a widow making her way into the world of commercial acting, with no acting experience whatever. She holds a B.A. in Drama from USC, an M.A. in Theatre Arts from Cal-State Long Beach, and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School that pays most of the bills.
