Virtual Reading!
"Honeymoon Suite” by Kelli Bowlden
SkyPilot’s virtual reading of “Honeymoon Suite” directed by Regina Niles is live!
Honeymoon Suite, written by Kelli Bowlden and directed by Regina Niles, is a play in three acts telling three different stories all from the same hotel room. Story #1 sees a young couple as they consider the consequences of commitment the morning after their wedding. Story #2 finds a second marriage off to a rocky start when the groom has a bit of a confession to make to his new wife. Story #3 follows a would-be wife being comforted by her bridal party after her wedding didn’t go as planned.
Honeymoon Suite was selected as one of our 2019 Runways. SkyPilot Runway is a play reading series that helps to develop new plays in the early drafts stage. The readings are directed by prominent Los Angeles theatre directors in partnership with the playwrights. They are rehearsed, staged, on their feet and performed with scripts-in-hand, immediately followed by a focused feedback session with a moderator, the playwright, and the audience. We are excited to present the latest version of the script.

About the Playwright:
Gary Morgenstein’s novels and plays have been featured in national media from The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Parade Magazine, the New York Post, Sports Illustrated and Fox News Radio to NPR. His recently published sixth novel is A Fastball for Freedom (“Field of Dreams in a nightmare landscape of darkness”), the sequel to his critically-acclaimed dystopian baseball-science fiction A Mound Over Hell (“1984 Meets Shoeless Joe”). An accomplished playwright, his heralded funny post-pandemic drama, A Black and White Cookie, has had Zoom readings performed by theater companies in New York City, the United Kingdom, Washington, DC and now Los Angeles. He is also the author of the stage dramas Saving Stan and A Tomato Can’t Grow in the Bronx, and the off-Broadway sci-fi rock musical The Anthem. Morgenstein is co-creator and writer of the new YouTube scripted television series Joyland, uniquely produced on the Zoom platform and set during the tumultuous 1960s, which has been hailed as “gritty and real” and “innovative.” He lives in Brooklyn, New York with his playwright-theater critic wife Marcina Zaccaria.
